Three-Dimensional Change of Lip after Two-Jaw Surgery in Facial Asymmetry Using Facial Scanner

چکیده
A facial scanner and three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) were used to evaluate the change in lip asymmetry before after two-jaw surgery for 22 patients with (menton deviation > 3 mm). We labrale superius (Ls), deviated/non-deviated-side cheilions (Ch-D/Ch-ND), inferius (Li) construct upper lower planes asymmetry. correlation analysis was performed determine factors related vertical (ΔChZ-D/ND). In transverse axis, Ch-D Li moved improve surgery. All landmarks, except Ls, backward anteroposterior axis. significant upward movement observed all hard tissue landmarks; however, there no changes soft tissue. plane, difference height of Ch-ND significantly reduced (1.38 mm vs. 0.72 ΔChZ-D/ND showed correlations mandibular setback. ΔCh-ND maxillary impaction non-deviated side. The improvement post-surgery mainly achieved by rather than Ch-ND.

Three-dimensional perception of facial asymmetry.
In orthodontic diagnosis, facial symmetry is important. The aim of the present study was to analyse the perception of various degrees of facial asymmetry exhibited by carefully designed virtual three-dimensional (3D) material. Three groups of raters (30 orthodontists, 30 maxillofacial surgeons, and 30 laymen) rated, using a six-point scale, the degree of asymmetry of eight randomly presented 3D...
متن کاملFacial asymmetry assessment in adults using three-dimensional surface imaging
BACKGROUND The use of three-dimensional (3D) surface imaging is becoming more popular and accepted in the fields of Medicine and Dentistry. The present study aims to develop a technique to automatically localise and quantify soft-tissue asymmetry in adults using 3D facial scans. This may be applied as a diagnostic tool to monitor growth and dynamic changes and to evaluate treatment outcomes. ...
متن کاملResults of End-To-Side Hypoglossal-Facial Nerve Anastomosis in Facial Paralysis after Skull Base Surgery
Introduction: The primary aim of facial reanimation surgery is to restore tone, symmetry, and movement to the paralyzed face. Hypoglossal-facial end-to-side anastomosis provides satisfactory facial reanimation in the irreversible proximal injury of the facial nerve. This study discussed the facial function results of end-to-side anastomosing of hypoglossal nerve to facial nerve when the i...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Accuracy of Facial Scan for Facial Deformities in Clinics: A New Evaluation Method for Facial Scanner Accuracy
In this study, the practical accuracy (PA) of optical facial scanners for facial deformity patients in oral clinic was evaluated. Ten patients with a variety of facial deformities from oral clinical were included in the study. For each patient, a three-dimensional (3D) face model was acquired, via a high-accuracy industrial "line-laser" scanner (Faro), as the reference model and two test models...
متن کاملAnalysis of Facial Asymmetry in Deformational Plagiocephaly Using Three-Dimensional Computed Tomographic Review
BACKGROUND Infants with deformational plagiocephaly (DP) usually present with cranial vault deformities as well as facial asymmetry. The purpose of this study was to use three-dimensional anthropometric data to evaluate the influence of cranial deformities on facial asymmetry. METHODS We analyzed three-dimensional computed tomography data for infants with DP (n=48) and without DP (n=30, contr...
